News: Breaking Bard presents VICE AND OTHER BARD HABITS

A brand new and exciting production, showcasing and drawing on three of Shakespeare’s classic plays.

Vice and Other Bard Habits, presented in the Studio at Derby Theatre for TWO NIGHTS ONLY on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 March, features scenes from The Tempest, Measure for Measure and Antony and Cleopatra, as well as live music.

Vice and Other Bard Habits combines strands of the Bard’s classic tales to tell a story of seduction, skulduggery and sin in a refreshingly contemporary style. Prepare to be entertained by a deluge of Shakespeare’s most colourful characters from Cleopatra to Caliban. The company will blend traditional and contemporary techniques to present a refreshing mix of scenes and extracts as part of a themed evening.
The cast and production team, including writers, Sean Harris and David Reeve, and Director, Adam Whyte consists of final year Derby Theatre Arts Students. The presenting company, Breaking Bard is a company of third year Theatre Arts Shakespeare in Performance students producing original theatre in Derby.
With all the usual panache and quality associated with Theatre Arts performances, Vice and Other Bard Habits promises to bring a contemporary flair to some early modern masterpieces for Shakespeare and non-Shakespeare fans alike. So, grab yourself a drink, take shelter from the storm outside and prepare to be enthralled by the Bard as you’ve never seen him before!
