An Open Call has been announced for the next edition of FORMAT International Photography Festival with the theme ‘FACTORY’. The Open Call for Submissions to the Exposure stand of FORMAT is open to all photographers, artists, curators and collectives from anywhere in the world.
‘Factory’ will be the main theme of FORMAT13 and can be understood literally and creatively in terms of process and the transformation of material, live site of production, the products, workers, analogue process, documentary and so on.
Exposure submissions will be considered by a jury which will include Photographer Brian Griffin; Olivier Laurentfrom BJP; Bridget Coaker Picture Editor at the Guardian and Director of Troika Editions; Francis Hodgson, Photography Critic for the Financial Times; Sue Steward, Photography critic for the Arts Desk at Radio2 and the Evening Standard and Louise Clements: Artistic Director of FORMAT International Photography Festival. Submissions should be sent via the FORMAT website: www.formatfestival.com and will be accepted until 19th September, there is a fee of £15.
The Jury will be looking for high quality work and ideas that fit directly or imaginatively into the festival theme and sub-themes, and will consider proposals for photography related events, photography exhibitions, happenings, audience participatory works, photomedia, performance, video, photofilms, photobooks, new media and sculptural forms.
FORMAT is one of the UK’s leading non-profit international contemporary festivals of photography and related media, based in Derby. Established in 2004 by Louise Clements and Mike Brown, the biennale festival celebrates the wealth of contemporary practice in international photography. FORMAT is focused on developing opportunities to platform the work of international photographers and to provide links for local/national practitioners to show work, exchange opportunities, skills and knowledge and for audiences to see, debate, develop and engage in the best of what photography is and can be.
FORMAT is curated by Louise Clements, QUAD & FORMAT Artistic Director, and organised by QUAD in partnership with: Derby City Council, Derby University & Derby Museums. FORMAT11 welcomed Joel Meyerowtiz as its theme Patron, alongside long-standing FORMAT supporter and Patron, Brian Griffin.
